On Tuesday, 12 June 2018, the first of three Airbus A340-500 was ferried from Tarbes–Lourdes–Pyrénées Airport (LFBT) France, to our maintenance facilities in South Africa, and landed at OR Tambo International (FAOR), Johannesburg at 04:40 Local Time.
The aircraft MSN 694, register 2R-LAV, is part of Global’s expansion once again into the wide-body market, which the company will make available to the airline industry for short, medium and seasonal capacity ACMI leasing requirements.
MSN 694 started it’s a career with Emirates Airlines, flying the airlines ultra-long-haul truck routes of 14 hours +. The aircraft will see Global transforming it into a versatile people mover, with seating of up to 356 passengers in an all-economy layout. This move will make the A340 ideal for Low-Cost carriers, Governments and Large Tour Group operators looking to take full advantage of the aircraft’s economies of scale.
Global is expected to take delivery of MSN 611 and MSN 520 during the months following.
