Seasonal demand is one of aviation’s great operational challenges. Passenger numbers climb steeply through the European summer, and airlines need extra aircraft, experienced crews and dependable support to hold their schedules together across an increasingly busy network.
For Global Airways, the 2019 European Summer Season was another successful chapter in our growing reputation as a trusted ACMI partner for international airlines.
From 1 April 2019, Global Airways deployed five Airbus A320 aircraft under ACMI agreements in support of long-standing partner Corendon Airlines, providing additional capacity through one of Europe’s busiest travel periods. The deployment demonstrated our ability to operate seamlessly across international markets while meeting the standards expected in one of the world’s most heavily regulated aviation environments.
Supporting Europe’s Peak Travel Season
Every summer, European airlines see a sharp rise in passenger demand driven by tourism, school holidays and seasonal travel. Meeting it takes more than adding aircraft. It requires experienced flight crews, comprehensive engineering support, responsive operational control and the ability to integrate cleanly into an airline’s existing operation.
Operating Airbus A320 aircraft ZS-GAS, ZS-GAZ, ZS-GAW, ZS-GAR and ZS-GAL, Global Airways supported Corendon’s network across the season, helping maintain reliable operations at the busiest point of the European aviation calendar.
Delivering Operational Excellence
Operating in Europe demands strict adherence to internationally recognised safety, maintenance and operational standards. Throughout 2019, Global Airways supported scheduled passenger services while meeting the expectations of European regulators and airline partners alike.
One of the season’s most significant achievements came through the European Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA) inspection programme, where Global Airways achieved and maintained an outstanding SAFA score of 0.41. That result reflects a disciplined approach to safety, engineering quality and regulatory compliance across the whole European operation.
Passengers never see these inspections take place, but they are an important measure of operational quality and they underpin the confidence our international partners place in us.
Building Long-Term International Partnerships
Successful ACMI relationships are rarely built in a single season. They develop through consistent performance, operational reliability and delivering the same standards every day, wherever the aircraft happen to be.
The continued partnership between Global Airways and Corendon Airlines shows the value of long-term collaboration built on trust, transparency and operational excellence. As airlines look for more flexible capacity solutions, dependable partnerships become one of the industry’s most valuable assets.
Returning Home, Ready for the Next Season
On 3 November 2019, the final aircraft returned to Global Airways’ facilities at O.R. Tambo International Airport, closing out another successful European deployment. Rather than the end of the journey, it marked the start of preparations for the next one, with the aircraft already earmarked for the following European summer programme.
That seasonal rhythm reflects the flexibility now central to modern aviation: deploying aircraft where they are needed most while holding consistently high standards in every market served.
Looking Ahead
The 2019 European Summer programme demonstrated more than the successful deployment of five aircraft. It showed our growing ability to support international airlines in some of the world’s most demanding aviation environments while maintaining exceptional standards of safety, reliability and performance.
Those same principles guide every ACMI partnership today. Whether we are supporting customers across Africa or operating within Europe under internationally recognised approvals, our commitment is to flexible aviation solutions backed by professionalism, experience and operational excellence.
Because for an airline for airlines, success is measured not only by where the aircraft fly, but by the confidence partners place in them season after season.
