As airlines adapt to changing passenger demand and shifting market conditions, flexibility has become one of the industry’s greatest strategic advantages.
From 1 August to 30 September 2026, Global Airways is supporting fastjet Zimbabwe with one of its Airbus A320-200 aircraft, ZS-GAC, (MSN 2496) under a short-term ACMI agreement. The aircraft is operating primarily on the high-demand Harare to Johannesburg and Victoria Falls to Johannesburg routes during one of Southern Africa’s busiest travel periods.
The agreement adds capacity through the seasonal peak, but it also shows the strategic value ACMI partnerships bring to modern airline operations.
Supporting Airline Growth
Passenger demand rarely stays constant through the year. Holiday travel, major events, tourism cycles and market shifts all create periods where extra capacity is needed. Permanently expanding a fleet to meet short-term demand is seldom practical or commercially efficient.
ACMI lets airlines respond quickly, introducing additional aircraft, experienced crews and full operational support without the long-term commitments that come with fleet expansion. For fastjet Zimbabwe, the A320 deployment accommodates increased demand while giving the airline a chance to evaluate a larger aircraft type as part of its longer-term fleet strategy.

More Than Additional Seats
The A320 does more than add capacity. Configured with 168 seats, including a dedicated 12-seat Business Premium cabin, it lets fastjet strengthen its customer offering on some of its busiest regional services and introduce a premium travel experience while future fleet options are being considered.
For passengers, that means more choice, more comfort and more availability during a period of heightened demand.
The Value of ACMI
Behind every successful ACMI deployment sit months of detailed planning. Aircraft preparation, flight operations, engineering support, crew scheduling, regulatory compliance and operational control all have to line up for a clean entry into service.
The objective is simple. Passengers should experience the same safety, professionalism and reliability whether an aircraft is operating under an ACMI agreement or as part of an airline’s own fleet. Done properly, the transition is almost invisible to the travelling public.
Building Long-Term Partnerships
For Global Airways, every ACMI agreement is more than the provision of an aircraft. Successful partnerships are built on collaboration, operational discipline and a shared commitment to safe, reliable air services. Working closely with airline partners, we provide flexible solutions that let operators respond confidently to changing conditions while protecting schedule integrity and customer confidence.
Whether the requirement is seasonal demand, a fleet transition, a charter programme or operational recovery, the focus stays the same: dependable aviation solutions built around each customer’s needs.
Looking Ahead
The deployment of ZS-GAC with fastjet Zimbabwe shows how far ACMI has come as a strategic tool. Flexible aircraft solutions are no longer just a short-term fix. They let airlines test new markets, strengthen existing networks and support long-term growth without compromising performance.
As passenger demand across Africa continues to grow, collaborative partnerships between airlines will play an increasingly important role in building a more resilient, connected and responsive industry.
