Short summary of post

The Company is seeking a MCC Duty Engineer (MCC DE) to join the team at OR Tambo Intl Airport Offices.
The primary function of the MCC DE is to provide technical support to the maintenance department and flight crews to ensure fleet health. The MCC DE is responsible for organizing and assisting with the recovery of technical disruptions during daily operations by ensuring defects are rectified on time and as per approved procedures and quality standards. This may include assisting with spares requests after hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• MCC DE must fulfil the function of being the link between the AMO, Commercial Department, CAMO, and Flight Operations via OCC.
• Monitor aircraft serviceability status to meet schedule requirements.
• Communicate with OCC informing them of aircraft serviceability and non-availability of aircraft due to maintenance requirements.
• Assist with all technical delay and AOG Situations.
• Assist with troubleshooting on a real time basis.
• Coding of defects on all Technical Data / Defect Forms (Tech logs, Cabin Defect logs) to ensure high quality of aircraft defect history.
• Reporting sent to Management during normal working hours.
• Scrutinize and analyse the Post Flight Reports and Tech Log Reports to identify recurring faults.
• Perform trouble shooting/fault analysis towards rectification.
• Issue instructions for irregularities as required, follow up to ensure that there are no further reports.
• Consult with the AMO and Engineering department to identify troublesome systems.
• Send a copy of Current MEL data to relevant departments and persons twice daily.
• Communicate with OCC regarding all technical delays, incidents, and accidents.
• Scrutinise and compile Auto Land Reports. Liaise any defects/problems regarding auto lands at various airports with Maintenance, Avionics, Engineering, and Flight Operations.
• Provide possible rectification recommendations to flying crew regarding anomalies encountered whilst in flight with the understanding that crews can only act within the scope of their flight manuals.

• Interface with all departments concerned to ensure that defects are actioned effectively at the most convenient time and arrange to have the required spares available.
• Consider the implication of significant defects and, if required, liaise with OCC to arrange suitable downtime with Customer to have such defects repaired.
• Consult with the Engineering Department with regards to anomalies encountered with new software installations on the fleet.
• Liaise with the relevant Maintenance managers, Quality assurance and Inspection departments regarding aircraft status and answer all queries on aircraft systems as required.
• Perform MCC tasks as required by MCM Sect 3 Procedures.
• Attend the AMO’s daily meeting.
• Consult with and give feedback to Flying Crew and Maintenance Personnel queries regarding anomalies on aircraft systems.

Requirements

Essential:

• Part-66 license (or equivalent)
• Engineering degree in aeronautics, electrical, mechanical or avionics, or other studies relevant to aircraft maintenance
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in aviation after obtaining the qualification
• Minimum of 2 years in continuing airworthiness management with similar responsibilities.

Advantageous:

• MCC, CAM-D or AMO experience
• Work experience in Part-M/CAMO environment.
• Airbus A320 and A340 familiarity
