Short Summary of Post

The Tug Master is responsible for executing Aircraft Towing Duties in an efficient and effective manner in order to ensure a smooth on time departure of aircraft, safe movement of aircraft between the maintenance hangar and parking bay, as well for movement of aircraft around the maintenance hangar.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Ensure driver’s permit, PDP, Radio Operator’s Licence and medical certificates are valid at all times
• Conduct all Aircraft Towing Duties as may be required, adhering to all the conditions as prescribed in the Company Procedures Manual with regards to aircraft towing, repositioning and pushback operations
• Ensure general Aircraft Towing Tug maintenance is carried out and that the tug service intervals are adhered to
• Do a daily check on the Aircraft Towing Tug’s operating system to ensure the Aircraft Towing Tug is fully operational before performing Towing Duties.
• Ensure Aircraft Towing Tug is correctly shut down and parked after each operation

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years towing / tug driving experience
• Valid EC Driver’s licence and PDP
• Valid Tug Operator’s licence
• National Senior Certificate
• Be of good health and fitness
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• An awareness of Health and Safety rules and regulations.
• Good English communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Computer literate.
• Intercultural competence.
• Be prepared to work shifts which will include weekends and Public Holidays.
• South African citizen or be eligible to work in South Africa
